2014-15: An obvious highlight of Smiddy's season was her participation with the U.S. National University Team at the World University Games in Granada, Spain in February 2015. Despite missing the last of the five overseas matches, a stat-padding 9-0 win over the hosts, she put up three points to tie for fourth among tournament defensemen and a plus-5 rating to tie for 15th best among all players at the WUG (and second and third on Team USA, respectively). Stateside both before and after that, she was one of the ACHA's top defensemen as a senior. On January 18, 2015, Smiddy fired two pucks home from near the top of the left circle, including the decider with 3:16 left as the Lady Ice Lions snapped 31 (overall) and 25 (at home) unbeaten streaks by defending national champion and top-ranked Miami. A similar spot on the ice was the site of overtime heroics by the Michigander on November 22, 2014 as PSU upended Northeastern 2-1.

2013-14: In five games with Penn State's NCAA team Smiddy logged one assist, on a Kendra Rasmussen goal that gave the Nittany Lions a 1-0 lead over Syracuse on November 10, 2013. She finished her NCAA career averaging 0.4 points per game, 58 percent higher than the next best defenseman over PSU's first two NCAA seasons.

2012-13: Despite only dressing 15 times, the former Honeybaked blueliner was the number three scorer on Penn State's NCAA defense with seven points. She scored on the power play and added an assist on November 3, 2012 in a rout of Sacred Heart, two weeks after another multi-point game against the Pioneers thanks to a pair of helpers. Smiddy's first varsity point was an assist on Micayla Catanzariti's 2-2 goal in the Nittany Lions' historic 5-3 win at Vermont to open PSU's NCAA era on October 6, 2012.

2011-12: En route to the team rookie of the year award in the final Lady Icers season, Smiddy was a standout on a deep and talented defense corps. Her first collegiate goal came on the power play against Buffalo on October 1, 2011, and she notched her first multi-point game with a pair of assists in a victory over California four weeks later. Smiddy helped support a Mary Kate Tonetti shutout of the Vulcans on November 11, 2011 with two goals and an assist, then scored on January 6, 2012 in PSU's second-ever defeat of Rhode Island in ECWHL play - a result that proved essential to the Lady Icers' eventually clinching the league's regular season title.
