Prior to Penn State: Trask attended and played for La Salle Academy, the dominant girls' hockey hockey program in Rhode Island. The Rams were Division I state champions in Trask's freshman (2012-13), junior (2014-15) and senior (2015-16) seasons, with the versatile righty playing a key role along the way. She was a three-time sportsmanship award winner, in addition to captaining the squad during her senior year and being named an honorable mention to the state's All-Division I Team that season. Outside of La Salle, Trask played for the Rhode Island Sting, the same program that produced class of 2019 center Meghan Miller.

Personal: Katelyn Elizabeth Trask was born on March 8, 1998 in Warwick, RI to Paul and Sharon Trask and has a brother, Paul Trask III, who played club hockey at Merrimack College. She has a well-rounded athletic and academic background, playing both field hockey and lacrosse at La Salle in addition to ice hockey (she captained the JV lacrosse team before moving up to the varsity, and was named all-academic in field hockey three times). As a student, she was a member of both the National and Rhode Island Honor Societies, in part because she managed to make high honor roll in every quarter of high school. Trask is majoring in biology, with an eye on post-baccalaureate studies in medical school, veterinary school or physician's assistant school.
