The Penn State Women's Ice Hockey Club's scheduled games at ACHA WD1 Buffalo this Saturday and Sunday, the 9th and 10th, have been canceled due to Winter Storm Nemo, which has affected numerous college hockey games this weekend across New England and points west. While the Buffalo area will not be at the epicenter of Nemo, it is still projected to receive anywhere from 12 to 18 inches of snow through Saturday and is under a winter storm warning until then. The games will not be made up.
For the team, which will remain 6-2-1, the next major event will now be the awarding of bids for the 2013 ACHA Women's Division 2 national championship tournament, which will take place on February 19th. The top four teams from the east and west will receive invites - and Penn State was the East Region's number three team in the most recent ranking. Should PSU receive a bid, the tournament will take place March 7th through 10th in Ashburn, VA. The WIHC will also play its only Ice Pavilion game of the season against East No. 6 Slippery Rock on February 22nd.
