In its first season, Penn State stunned the ACHA, both by sneaking into the national championship tournament, and by walking away from it with the second-place trophy in hand. To do the latter, PSU first stunned top-seeded Alaska and defending national champion Wisconsin-Stout, then tied North Dakota State to clinch first place after the preliminary round. In the semifinals, a rematch with Stout ended with Nina Elia's double-overtime goal that will undoubtedly stand as one of the great moments in Penn State hockey history. The team then, despite an early 2-0 lead, came up short in the championship game against high-powered West Chester.

Devon Fisk, who scored three times and added an assist during the championships, was named first-team all-tournament, while Katie Vaughan, who stopped 69 of 71 shots in the two wins over Stout, backstopped the second team.

With the momentum of that tournament run, the entire team returning, and reinforcements on the way, season number two promises to be DVD-worthy as well.
