WIHC Finishes Pegula Ice Arena Move

On Monday evening, as the $90 million Pegula Ice Arena officially opened for regular business, and prior to a practice session on the arena's 6,000-seat Varsity Rink, the Women's Ice Hockey Club completed its relocation into a brand-new locker room.

Given the team's less-than-ideal accommodations last season at the Greenberg Ice Pavilion, the room by itself was sufficiently exciting. However, fresh Bauer gear remains a proven path to any hockey player's heart, and was a cherry on top of the occasion. Junior defenseman Ashton Schaffer (No. 9), sophomore forward Nina Elia (No. 5) and sophomore defenseman Jackie Saideh (No. 8) were more than happy to show off their haul, as well as their wall customization efforts.

By the end of the evening, things had advanced to the more familiar organized chaos of a hockey locker room, as demonstrated by junior forward Taylor Nyman's stall.

Penn State's season opens in just 10 days, on September 27th against Liberty in Pegula Ice Arena's Community Rink at 10:15 p.m. PSU returns both goaltenders and 10 of 11 players who collected points on 2012-13's national runners-up, while adding an exciting seven-player recruiting class.
