When: Saturday, October 19th at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 20th at 9:00 a.m.

Where: Pegula Ice Arena Community Rink; University Park, PA

Notable: Sunday's game will be the 20th in Women's Ice Hockey Club history, with PSU owning a 12-5-1 all-time record over two seasons

Game Notes

Lockdown D: In four games this season, opponents have not been given much breathing room - Penn State has only surrendered two goals (0.50 per game) and 47 shots on goal (11.75 per game). The dominance extends to the penalty kill, where PSU has yet to allow a goal on ten opposing power play attempts.

Freshman Force: Exactly 25 percent (four of 16) of Penn State's goals so far in 2013-14 have been scored by freshmen Geneva Wagoner and Anna Marcus. Two of the four, both by Wagoner, have been game-winning goals.

As Fisk Goes...: Dating back to last season, sophomore forward Devon Fisk has collected a point in five of her last six games and has scored a goal in six of her last nine. Over that latter span, Penn State is 6-0-0 when Fisk scores and 0-2-1 when she doesn't.

Leading the Way: Numerous Penn Staters are among the national leaders in ACHA Division 2. Fisk's six goals and seven points and second (tied) and third, respectively. Wagoner's six points are tied for fifth, while junior forward Mary Kate Tonetti and senior forward Carly Szyszko are tied for the top spot with four assists each. Junior goaltender Sarah Eisenhut and senior goaltender Katie Vaughan are both among the top three in save percentage and goals against average, with Eisenhut recording one of the four official shutouts across the country so far this season.

Milestone Watch (including statistics accumulated with the ACHA Division 1 Lady Icers from 2010-2012): Vaughan is four wins shy of 30 for her career... with her first-period assist against Liberty on September 28th, Szyszko notched her 30th career point... with her first-period goal against Liberty on September 27th, senior defender Allie Rothman hit 20 points at Penn State... after a three-assist outing against Cal (PA) last Saturday, Tonetti broke double-digit points for her career, 11 in all over 18 games - not bad for someone who played goalie until last year.

The Opponent

Name: Michigan State University
Nickname: Spartans
Location: East Lansing, MI

Series History: Last season, on October 13th and 14th, 2012, the Women's Ice Hockey Club picked up its first two wins ever at Michigan State, by 1-0 and 2-1 scores. In the first contest, Fisk scored the only goal needed on an assist from sophomore forward Nina Elia, while Fisk and Szyszko tallied the next day. Goaltenders Vaughan and Eisenhut split the weekend set, with each turning in an outstanding performance.

About Michigan State: With no NCAA women's program on campus, Michigan State tends to have very good ACHA squads, as evidenced by their Division 1 team that boasts the 2003 and 2011 national championships. In D2, the Spartans are also strong, as MSU spent most of last season in contention for a bid to the ACHA National Tournament, finishing seventh in the West Region and a 6-6-0 record that included three wins over D1 programs. Players to watch on a deep team include sophomore forward Breana Kraut, who scored ten times a year ago, and sophomore forward Dana Ovsjannikovova, whose power play marker was MSU's only score against PSU last season. Junior Amanda Tapp was a workhorse between the pipes in 2012-13, although promising freshman Hannah Johnson should play as well.

Trivia: MSU freshman forward Samantha Stefani and Penn State sophomore defender Tara Soukup are former Tier 1 Elite League foes with Compuware and the Ohio Flames, respectively.
